Laughter Yoga

As the saying goes laughter is the best medicine and when practiced with yoga’s ‘pranayama’ breathing, it becomes a unique exercise known as Laughter Yoga.

The point is to laugh for no specific reason and promoting childlike playfulness as a form of mental and physical exercise. In most cases this soon leads to real and contagious laughter.

Science has proved that the body cannot differentiate between simulated and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits.

Some of the benefits of Laughter Yoga include:

  • Elevates Mood and Reduce Stress
  • Releases endorphins
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Eliminates anxiety
  • Increases supply of oxygen to the body and brain
  • Builds team spirit
  • Provides strength in adversity
  • Maintains positive mental attitude

A message from  Sahar;

‘Having been working in the corporate world for more than 25 years, I found myself always rushing around for work and hardly ever having fun. It’s almost like I had forgotten how to laugh, real hearty laughter. One day, I was intrigued by a report about people who gather in Paris and start laughing for no reason. That is when I found laughter yoga, I started practicing it and found myself feeling less stressed and more easy going. I decided to become a qualified laughter yoga practitioner. I studied with Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the idea, and now I am enthralled with this unique life changing concept.’
